Hi

Can anybody help me out with this? The only ones that I've found are the "smiling" variants. I'm a "mint in box" collector of these figures so a full box would be perfect, but would consider a loose "neutral" face sculpt Jo.

I'll make it worth your while

Thanks

So are these (and certain other) sets exclusively sold only by B&M stores?

Must admit I hadn't heard of B&M before I saw the post!

from the other forums, they are in the UK only in the B&M stores.. I too am after the same face Jo pack.. In the US, Whona have them.. here in Australia, limited specialist stores have them however the outlet of the actual supplier still hasn't listed them.. I personally haven't seen any in the wild. then again I live in the country so I never see much anyway..

Many thanks David.

Strange how CO decide how to market their products.

Its either a bit mad, or pure genius. I suspect they're being very clever.

After all, people seem to be fighting over this set, even though its composed of already-issued figures (as I understand it - I'm no CO expert!).

I also read on other forums that the Jo head is likely not different in the moulding. The smile or straight-face is merely a different paint job on the same surface.

I'm not convinced. Having caught the 'must-get-it' fever, I now have a 'smiling' Jo set, (from the Fareham, Hampshire B&M) and the moulding seems to have pronounced raised cheeks and laughter lines.

the Jo figure is definitely not a paint job variant.. one head is from the 3 doctors set and the other from the Claw of Axos set. This has been confirmed by Ed from CO. I believe it is because B&M purchased the figures which as you said are just repaints to give variants (jo is not an actual representation as the outfit should have short sleeves but they couldn't find a set of arms to suit that would fit in with the correct outfit that wouldn't cost more money to produce). I agree about the clever marketing though, even the 13 doctors set is different enough to warrant collectors wanting the set.. which is stunning..

The pic below shows the 'happy' face Jo I have in my pack. In another forum, someone has said there is also an optional Delgado head, where he is looking to one side. As you can see in the pic of my set, I think this might simply be a case of the painting being slightly off!

Oh I just noticed that the picture insert option isn't working.. I looked at a post I did recently with the 13 doctors, and the image link is there but the image isn't.

Have to say I hadn't heard of a Delgado variant.. but would like the other Jo version that's for sure.

Thanks again David. Your expertise in these matters is very handy!

And my sincere thanks to Paul who, in another topic, has made me realise the 'insert image' function IS working. Its just not the way I used to insert images into a post.

Basically when you post, look for the icon 'Insert Image' and click on it. It gives you this:

img/img but with squared-off brackets either side of img and also /img.

You need to have aleady got your image somewhere on the net (Photobucket etc), and put the link/URL (http. etc etc) to that pic in between img and, at the end /img

Well, after hours of squinting at grainy photos of Third Doctor Collector sets on eBay, I finally acquired a "neutral" Jo in a mint box.

It's the first one that I saw in two months of regular trawling, both on eBay and in multiple stores. Goodness know what percentage are neutral vs. smiling - I would suggest less than 1% from personal experience!

I didn't locate one but ended up purchasing a loose one as well as a loose Claws version and made a short sleeved version out of these two figures and the arms of Ace.. this way I have a Claws variant with different head as well as this version of Jo..

Are the heads easily removable?

Thus, if someone's desperate, can you buy an Axos Jo, and swap the head with the 3rd Doctor set Jo?

Hah! Thanks David. I had a feeling they might.

I'm surprised Ebayers aren't selling 'mega-rare third Doctor with tenth Doctor's head factory error' :-)
