Release Date: 16th April 2008
The Torchwood Trading Card Collection features 200 brand-new spectacular cards from both series of the TV show. Prepare to do battle with deadly alien sleeper assassins bent on destroying the world, alien entities that feed on memories, monstrous parasites that incubate inside human bodies and a demon that could cause the end of life on Earth.
Produced by G.E.Fabbri. I don't know at this stage exactly how they will be issued, but presumably it's a magazine-based card set like Battles in Time. |

Theres a little snippet about these in the latest Torchwood Magazine. The 200 card set includes 25 Rare, 10 Super Rare and 5 Ultra-Rare and are aimed at adult collectors. Based on Series 1 and 2 of the show. Each pack contains 9 random cards, £2.99 per pack. |

They've GOT to be aimed at adult collectors, otherwise the scenes they can show would not be representative of the series. |

As Dalekfan pointed out in the first post they are being produced by GE Fabbri, the same company behind the Battles in Time card set. Very much doubt any autos will be produced by this company. Forgot to mention that details can be found at www.torchwoodcards.com |

Are any sellers listing these yet - ideally a box below RRP? |

Eighty pounds! That is like a hundred and sixty dollars plus shipping to the US.
I'm gonna have to take a pass.
"...plus a selection of power-boosting bonus cards that add exciting levels to players’ games." I guess this is part of the game.

Do NOT buy these cards. They are trash and they are over priced, the company making them has no clue. The chase cards are the same as the BIT cards and they are twice the price. This will be a dumped product soon. The BBC are giving licenses away for this stuff to the wrong people. These are very poor quality cards. Very few people will stock them. |

They are only being aimed at the Sci-Fi/Card retailers anyway so of course less people will stock them. With a much lower market it makes sense production costs etc would be higher.
I really don't see how the company that makes Battles In Time can be described as not having a clue.
Besides if they do fail, then they become more collectable afterwards
Personally I'm looking forward to something less mainstream, that everybody collects. Like the good old days |

Sci-Fi Planet, I reckon you're absolutely on the nose about this release.
Potty. High prices AND limited market due to being classed as "adult" is going to kill these in the water...
I've seen some of the SR and UR cards and they're nothing special IMHO either.
Passing on these till they get remaindered. They're not technically Who cards anyway, so they're outside my collecting parameters.
Anyone seen them in High Street shops yet? |

I'm not going to think about collecting Torchwood cards until we get a proper New Series Who set. Where is that Inkworks set anyways? |

One day I will.
Wouldn't it be easier for them to put an 18 certificate on the boxes like they do with DVD's and keep the price the same as the Dr Who ones
I don't think it's really fair for us collectors to pay double the price on them.

Having collected all of the Battles In Time cards I thought I would give these a try. Looked all around Hull, nowhere has them. So I went on a little trip to Leeds where both FP and Travelling Man had them in stock. I bought four packs from Travelling Man and pulled a UR and a couple of SRs. The card stock is hellishly better than the Battles In Time cards. The lenticular UR is very good, my only problem is the SR images seem to be a little blurred and difficult to focus on. No duplicate cards so far, which I should hope not only having bought the four packs. The cards themselves are in my opinion a lot better laid out and less cluttered than the Battles In Time and Bond sets. Overall 9/10 for the cards and 2/10 for the price. Hmm I think I will collect these, but very slowly, maybe picking up the odd card from t'bay and theres no way I would even think about multiple sets like I have with Battles In Time. |
