Hi all, I've just signed up (Aug 2011) and I've vitited this site many many times in the past.
I'm finally beginning to work on some of the WHO-related projects that I've always wanted to do - mainly life-size sculpts of some of the classics. Davros (Wisher) is on the cards, but I've started to make a wearable VOC Robot costume.
It's early days, but I'm nearly done with my sculpt of the head, and thought you might like to see it. It's sculpted in Newplast plasticine, totally by myself and done by eye, no measurements, so it may be 'off' in size. I'm a novice sculptor. I've only ever sculpted twice before, small figures. I plan to send the finished sculpt to a good mate who will mould it and produce a resin cast which I will trim and paint. My girlfriend is a seamstress witha penchant for Doctor Who (She's made a great Leela costume by the way!) and she'll make the soft parts of the suit.
Here are some pics of the sculpt...the full album can be seen here:

Hello rapstertee, welcome to the forum..., I'm a newbie really myself as I only joined in February of this year!!! Thanks for sharing the photo's, I was especially pleased to see photo's from start to finish rather than just the end result..., I'm not an expert but I think it looks pretty good, I do like the Voc robots & yours certainly looks like it's supposed to (in my opinion) so well done with your project, I certainly couldn't make something like that!!! |

Thanks for sharing that, good video..., also nice to see the Voc robot in 360 degrees i.e. from every angle!!! It will be good to see the whole Voc robot all finished, clothing & all..., any plans to make anymore Voc robots or will Davros be next on your project list??? |

Well, I might start scuplting Davros while I'm maling the VOC suit...My girlfriend will be handling all the seamstressy stuff, and a friend of mine is a moulding/casting genius, so I'll be relatively free to have a go at Davros. We'll see.
Then again, I might watch a random classic DW story and get enthused about Sutekh or Styre or something else! One can never tell! |
